New to diabetes: what next?

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes you probably have many questions. You may be feeling confused, scared or angry. These are common reactions.

Australian Diabetes Council can help to answer your questions and provide you with support.

The NDSS

The National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) is a free program sponsored by the Australian Government that subsidises the cost of blood glucose testing supplies and offers free needles and syringes to people who use insulin.

If you are an Australian resident and have been diagnosed with diabetes, you are eligible for enrolment in the NDSS. The registration form must be signed by a doctor or credentialled diabetes educator. More information if you are not registered with the NDSS.

Please note, however, that registration with the NDSS is different to membership of Diabetes Australia. View more information on becoming a Australian Diabetes Council member.

Diabetes Education

Most communities in NSW offer Diabetes Education services:
CLICK the link to find the nearest Diabetes Education Service to you or
