Recognising our corporate sponsors and partners
Helping us serve people with diabetes
The generous support of corporate sponsors helps Australian Diabetes Council fulfil our mission to serve the best interests of all people affected by diabetes, to identify the undiagnosed and assist research. Every contribution allows Australian Diabetes Council to continue searching for a cure for type 1 diabetes and improving diabetes care.
It helps us meet our ongoing commitment to provide information and support to those with diabetes, their families, carers and friends. We are 99.7 per cent self-funded and rely heavily on the support of our members, supporters, sponsors and partners.
In 2002, with the help of corporate sponsors, we launched our national diabetes awareness campaign, Be Well - Know Your BGL in a groundbreaking health initiative to find half a million people who have diabetes and don’t know it - yet.
A national authority
With corporate support, we have strengthened our position as a national authority on diabetes. We have dramatically increased public awareness of the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment through our provision of call centre service, website, consumer publications and many other information and education initiatives.
Corporate support also helps us advocate at state and national levels for policies that make a difference in the everyday lives of people with diabetes. We have brought Ministerial attention to shortages of diabetes educators in rural areas, discrimination issues, prejudices in insurance cover and the public health issue of sharps disposal.
