Information

When you become an Everyday Plus member, you will receive:

  • A comprehensive ‘New Member Kit’ which includes easy to understand brochures and resources on how to manage diabetes effectively.  The kit is tailored to the type of diabetes in question.
  • One of four publications that are distributed each quarter to each of our specific membership groups – Diabetes Connect (for our general membership), Jellybean Scene (for our members aged 0-12 years), You Said What?! (for our members aged 13-17 years) and Invigorate (for our members with pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes). Please note that Invigorate is distributed twice a year. 

Diabetes Connect includes interesting articles that address the management of some of the issues and complications that people with diabetes experience.  It provides updates on current research and advocacy projects and also includes delicious recipes and member stories and profiles.

  • Access to our Customer Care line which receives over 500 calls daily.  Our friendly operators will provide information about diabetes products and diabetes management and can connect you with credentialed diabetes educators and accredited practising dietitians should you have a specific query. Education

When you become an Everyday Plus member, you will have access to:

  • Educational programs facilitated by dietitians and diabetes educators that are held across New South Wales.

  • A free blood glucose meter demonstration at all Resource Centres located in Glebe, Wagga Wagga, Newcastle and Wollongong, valued at $25. Appointments are essential so please contact the Customer Care line of 1300 DIABETES (1300 342 238) to make a booking.

Advocacy

Australian Diabetes Council advocates for the needs of everyone with diabetes.  We listen and ensure a fair deal for people with diabetes and work for the rights of our members.  
 

Discounts on products at Australian Diabetes Council

As an Everyday Plus member, you will save 10 per cent on the price of a range of products including diabetes books, clothing, food and cookbooks. You can order products via the Customer Care Line on 1300 DIABETES (1300 342 238) or visit one of our Resource Centres located in Glebe, Newcastle, Wollongong and Wagga Wagga.

 

Support Groups

As an Everyday Plus member, you can be part of a local group that provides contact with people who live with diabetes to share experiences.  Support Groups help fundraise for specific diabetes programs and have regular health professional guest speakers.  With over 70 active Support Groups across New South Wales, there is sure to be one close to you.  Please contact our Customer Care Line on 1300 DIABETES (1300 342 238) to find out where your nearest Support Group is located.

Children and Teenagers

All new members under the age of 18 years receive the first year of membership for free. There are loads of benefits including diabetes DVD's, age specific booklets, Australian Diabetes Council JellyBean Club, teenage newsletter, kids camps, social events and lots more.

Diabetes Kids and Teens Careline

All Everyday Plus Members have access to the Diabetes Kids and Teens Careline where a paediatric diabetes educator can provide advice and reassurance for children, parents and teachers.  The Careline can be contacted on 1300 DIABETES (1300 342 238) between 9.00am and 4.00pm on Monday to Friday.

 

Life Insurance

Those members seeking life insurance can ask to speak to our Advocacy Officer on 1300 DIABETES (1300 342 238) for advice on organisations that may be of assistance.

Medical

MedicAlert

The Medic Alert Foundation is a NFP organisation that provides a four-part emergency medical information and identification system.  A MedicAlert bracelet or necklet details specific medical, personal and identification details relating to the member in the case of an emergency.  All Everyday Plus Members now receive a 30% discount off all stainless steel jewellery or $10 off any other metal based products upon joining MedicAlert.

 

Health Fund - MBF

If you are a Member of MBF, you may be entitled to a 12 month period of membership to Australian Diabetes Council. Please contact MBF directly on 13 11 37 for further information and refer to the MBF Diabetes Management Program.
